Pet Behaviour Therapist

Clare Russell (DipCABT NOCN)

Clare is a qualified Pet Behaviour Therapist who has been working with challenging dogs for the past 11 years.

Clare developed an interest in pet behaviour therapy when she was unable to find local help and advice for her own dog.

A spell fostering for a local Greyhound charity was followed by volunteer work and then employment with the Scottish SPCA. During this period Clare realised that the owners of a lot of the dogs being rehomed for 'behavioural issues' needed help and advice when their dog was a puppy.

Taylor Veterinary Practice were delighted to offer the space for puppy classes and these classes have been running since 2007. The building of a training room at East Kilbride has allowed for more classes and private behavioural consultations.

The opportunity to rent a scout hall in Newton Mearns has allowed for more classes to be added.

Clare continues to keep her own training up to date by attending seminars and training with Kay Laurence via the COLLAR courses, Clare was particularly honoured to be asked to join the staff of Learning About Dogs as a mentor.

In her 'free time' Clare works with her own 7 'projects', 4 Border Collies, 2 Beagles and a Yorkshire Terrier who have all been rescued and have their own stories to tell.

Clare has trained in Obedience, Heelwork to music, Agility and most recently Ringcraft. Her passion is in buidling the confidence of both dogs and owners.

Clare also ‘guest’ trains for other local dog training clubs and runs seminars and one day workshops.
